Both videos leave the impression of the singer (Dave Matthews) not being in control of the life he is in and constantly changing his appearance to either "fit in" or to meet the expectaions of a society. One can only wonder if this is how Dave Mathews has felt over the last couple of years or if it is simply a means to communicate a feeling of being disconnected.
The feeling of being disconnected is explored in Morrissey's latest CD, Years of Refusal, and he identifies with this feeling quite well. But of course, not many have accused Morrissey of attempting to fit in, or of needing to meet someone elses expectations. However, he is discovering his Catholic faith again.
Well, these two albums are on my iPod in heavy rotation and it was almost difficult not to make that connection.
